This was my 4th Year Honours Project. I decided to create a brand of craft beers called “The Butcher Brewing Co.” The idea is to brew beers that pair perfectly with the three most common meats, namely, Beef, Lamb and Pork. The gift boxes come with coasters as well as a document outlining the characteristics of each beer and why it is suited to the specific type of meat. A recipe book is also included with recipes for cooking each type of meat and how to use the beer in the cooking process.

We screen printed all of AKEDO’s swing tags, as well as some shirts that were given away on Facebook. Images of the shirts can be found on the AKEDO website via the link.

Together with Eleni Labrou, we hosted an event at the Alexander Theatre in Braamfontein for the launch of the AKEDO website and online store.

We helped our friend Eleni Labrou, designer and owner of AKEDO, with creating a brand and website. Additionally we created an online store where she stocks other designers as well as artists. All branding, design and photography on the site was done by D&L.

Brief:

A student project for ISTD that asked to consider plants in the broadest possible ways that interpret and celebrate plants and the concept of the garden and its role in our lives.

Rationale:

I chose to look at gardening as a form of violence against nature. Each poster describes how to use a specific gardening tool the correct way, however, the step-by-step instructions are written in such a way that you begin to question whether they are to be used for gardening or to be used violently against a human being.
